The Types of Nespresso Machines
If you’re a coffee fan, you probably know about Nespresso machines. There are a wide variety of Nespresso machines available in the market, each with its own pros and cons. If you’re looking to find the right machine for your coffee needs, this article will help you make an informed decision.
There are currently more than twenty types of Nespresso machines available in the market; however, the two major categories of Nespresso machines are the OriginalLine and VertuoLine machines. VertuoLine machines are technologically more advanced than original machines.
Still, this doesn’t mean they are ideal for everyone–for example, they don’t offer a built-in frothing feature like OriginalLine machines. Also, although many companies make Nespresso machines, they all use the same proprietary technology taken from Nestle.

OriginalLine Machines
The first line of machines is the OriginalLine–these are the more traditional machines that have been around for a while. If you want a machine that makes great coffee and is easy to use, the OriginalLine machines are ideal for you. There are four main types of OriginalLine machines: Inissia, Pixie, CitiZ, and Essenza.
Inissia is the most basic and affordable machine in the OriginalLine, so if you’re looking for a machine that won’t break the bank, Inissia is a great choice. Pixie is a more compact and lightweight machine, and is perfect for smaller spaces. CitiZ is a bit more advanced, with features like a larger water tank and a programmable coffee button. Finally, Essenza is the most compact machine in the OriginalLine–perfect for minimalists who want to save counter space.
VertuoLine Machines
The VertuoLine machines are the newest line of Nespresso machines, and they use cutting-edge technology to make great coffee. These machines are more expensive than the OriginalLine machines, but they offer features like automatic capsule ejection and a larger water tank. There are five main types of VertuoLine machines: Vertuo, Vertuo Evoluo, Vertuo Next, VertuoPlus, and VertuoPlus Deluxe.
Vertuo is the basic VertuoLine machine. It offers all the essential features, like automatic capsule ejection and a large water tank. Vertuo Evoluo is a more advanced machine, with features like an auto-off feature, pod size detection, a fifty-four-ounce water tank, and a rapid heat up time. Vertuo Next offers even more features, like six different cup sizes, as compared to the five cup sizes offered by other Vertuo machines. Although it has a smaller water tank than the Evoluo, you get bluetooth connectivity, a slim design, and stunning colors. Then comes the VertuoPlus, which is a more compact machine and was designed as a workaround to the heating problems associated with previous VertuoLine machines.
In addition to better heat dynamics, VertuoPlus machines offer automatic pod size detection, a forty-ounce water tank, a one-touch brewing system, and motorized head opening and closing. VertuoPlus Deluxe is the most advanced machine in the VertuoLine, with all the bells and whistles such as motorized head movement, one-touch brewing technology, a sixty-ounce water tank that can be placed behind the machine, an auto-off feature, a twenty-second heat up time, and more.
Which Nespresso Machine Is Right for Me?
Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to this question, as this depends on your needs and preferences. If you want a machine that is compact and easy to use, then the OriginalLine machines are ideal for you. If you’re looking for a coffee-shop worthy machine with all the convenient features you could ask for, the VertuoLine machines are a perfect choice. Whichever machine you choose, you’re sure to enjoy great coffee at just the push of a button.
